Registering for Dual Credit Courses is a way for students to get a head start and prepare for the world of public health.

PHPH 101 – Introduction to Public Health
3 credit hours | Fall Semester (August—December)

This course is an introduction to the broad and impactful discipline of public health. Students learn about its history and practice, the science of epidemiology, determinates of health and disease, social justice, and health equity.

PHEP 200 – Disease Detectives
3 credit hours | Spring Semester (January—May)

This course covers the history of epidemics, the evolution of epidemiology, the role of public health, and concepts of disease transmission and surveillance. Students learn how the epidemiological approach has been applied to historical and current epidemics of infectious and chronic diseases.

PHPB 301 – Health Equity
3 credit hours | Fall Semester (August—December)

Race or ethnicity, gender, sexual identity, age, disability, socioeconomic status, and geography contribute to an individual's ability to achieve good health. Students learn about health disparities, which involves a critical analysis of circumstances to understand differences in health outcomes among groups.
