University of Louisville Appoints Associate Dean of Administration, Dr. Kim Linnear

The University of Louisville School of Public Health and Information Sciences is pleased to announce that Kim Linnear, PhD, MPA, CHES, has joined the school’s leadership team effective January 2, 2025. As the Associate Dean of Administration, Dr. Linnear is a strategic advisor to the dean and oversees several services including communication, facilities, information technology, human resources, and philanthropy. Linnear is an assistant professor in the Department of Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences and will also manage operations for the school’s Humana Health Equity Research Center, which recently received a transformative $6.75 million grant from the Humana Foundation. 

In addition to leading the school’s daily operations, Katie Cardarelli, Dean of the UofL School of Public Health and Information Sciences, established the associate dean position to maximize community and university relationships, strengthen decision-making and change management, and improve the school's integrated business and administrative systems.

“Kim is a champion of health equity, a proven collaborator, and has a unique blend of leadership experiences in higher education, human resources, program administration, and research management,” said Dean Cardarelli. “I’m thrilled that Kim will play a major role in elevating the school by advancing operational and research excellence.”

Linnear’s professional journey in higher education spans over fifteen years and includes significant roles at several institutions. She served as the Population Science Research Program Manager at the UT Southwestern Medical Center, Office of Community Outreach, Engagement, and Equity, where she provided ongoing program evaluation and guidance for evidence-based programs. She was also the Executive Director for the Office of Grants Development and Compliance at Tarrant County College and Associate Director for the Texas Prevention Institute for the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth.

With wide-ranging research experience, Linnear has been principal investigator and program director on grants funded by the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Cancer Institute, the Texas Department of Health and Human Services, and the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas.

After earning an undergraduate degree from Jackson State University, Linnear received a master’s in public administration from the University of Oklahoma, focusing on human resources and organizational development. Her academic pursuits culminated in a Ph.D. in Health Studies from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, TX. Linnear completed a diversity, equity, and inclusion leadership fellowship and is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES®).
