Award Winners

Michael Allgood, graduate student in MS in Health Administration program in the Dept. of Health Management and Systems Sciences, wasawarded the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME)/Sachs Family Foundation scholarship [n Honor of Michael A Sachs] for Entrepreneurs in Healthcare Management. Allgood was celebrated at the CAHME Awards Ceremony during the American College of Healthcare Executives Congress in Chicago on March 19.


Samantha De Leon, graduate student in the MS in Health Administration program in the Dept. of Health Management and Systems Sciences, received the Malcom S. Knowles Award in Organizational Leadership from the UofL College of Education and Human Development. This award recognizes an outstanding adult learner in the Healthcare Leadership undergraduate program who excels both academically and professionally by successfully integrating prior learning into the program.


Jessica Sharon, Director of Innovation Programs at UofL and doctoral student in the Dept. of Health Management and Systems Sciences, was named a Healthcare Hero in the Innovation Category by Business First. This award honors someone who breaks ground in the healthcare field by developing or implementing new technology, treatments, or programs with wide applications. The 2023 Health Care Heroes were honored at a dinner and awards presentation on Feb. 16. All recipients were profiled in the Feb. 17-23 edition of Louisville Business First. Fellowships

MS in Health Administration student Michael Allgood was accepted to the 2023-24 class of Administrative Fellows at Sutter Health, a not-for-profit healthcare network in Northern California. Beginning in July, Michael will work at Sutter Roseville Medical Center for one year. Training future healthcare leaders, the fellowship provides hands-on specialized administrative experience in acute care hospitals and ambulatory care environments.


MS in Health Administration student Harper Dotsey as competitively selected by Norton Healthcare for an Administrative Fellowship beginning Summer 2023. Harper was chosen from more than 100 candidates applying from Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME)-accredited graduate healthcare management programs across the country. Harper is an American College of Healthcare Executives student associate, member of the University of Alabama Birmingham and National Association of Health Services Executives case study competition teams, and has been serving as a UofL Health administrative intern throughout his time in the program.


Conference Presentation

Irina Kondaurova, doctoral student in the Dept. of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics, presented, "Effects of ARNA in patient’s task completion: a RCT experiment,"at the Supercollider 2023 conference at the University of Kentucky in Lexington on Friday, February 17.  This study evaluates the technology acceptance model of the Adaptive Robot Nursing Assistant (ARNA) robot, which was designed to aid in the nursing shortage by performing patient sitter and walker tasks and providing physical assistance and helping with fall prevention. Results demonstrated the strong significant positive effects from using ARNA vs Human. This research will address questions of whether proposed robotic caregivers can meaningfully assist human caregivers and improve both nurse and patient safety.
