Chealsea Gachagua, of Richmond, Ky., is a member of the McConnell Scholar Class of 2029 at the University of Louisville. She is pursuing a major in nursing, with a minor in political science.

High School

Chealsea is a graduate of the Gatton Academy for Mathematics and Science, where she was WKU Mock Trial & High School Mock Trial captain, a student council  representative, and president of Project Unite. She also was a member of the varsity softball team, pep band, and book club. Chealsea volunteered frequently as a Super Saturday Teacher Assistant and participated in the Gatton Academy Leaders in Education program. 

As an avid reader, I am excited to join the McConnell Scholars Program because it will challenge me to think critically, engage with diverse perspectives, and grow as both a scholar and leader.
