Nina Hanee Jang received her Ph.D. in English with a specialization in children's literature from Illinois State University. Her dissertation focused on Korean American literature for youth and how ontological awareness, sense of community, and heritage contribute to the the Korean American children's process of growth and empowerment as an Other. Her areas of research include migration, magical storytelling, women of color feminism, queer theory, Studio Ghibli films and other media for children and young adults.
