UofL’s online Master of Science in Social Work program is open to professionals with a bachelor’s in any area of study, with an accelerated degree option (Advanced Standing admission) for applicants with a bachelor’s in social work (BSW).

Due to the high demand for this program, we encourage all candidates to submit their application as early as possible in order to be considered for the next available term/start. Strong applications submitted after the deadline are considered by the admissions committee on a case-by-case basis and as space (enrollment count) allows.

Standard Track: No BSW Required

The Standard track is a 60-credit hour program that prepares professionals with various academic backgrounds to begin or move forward in their social work career. This extended MSSW curriculum helps you develop skills and knowledge focused around 1) children and families, 2) health and mental health and 3) community and international practice.

Choose between a 3-year or 4-year curriculum plan that accommodates your learning style, professional and personal commitments and schedule, and helps you achieve your goals at your own pace.
Advanced Standing Track: For BSW Graduates

The Advanced Standing track is a 30-credit hour program designed for students who already hold a BSW, building on your previous academic knowledge without repeating lower level coursework.
