2017 Human Trafficking Awareness Conference

The University of Louisville Women’s Center and Women4Women Student Board are raising awareness of human trafficking in Kentucky to educate students and the community about the complex issue of human trafficking and to encourage taking action to prevent it.

The 7th Annual Human Trafficking Awareness Conference was held Feb. 8th in the Swain Student Activities Center’s Multipurpose Room. Doors open at 5:30pm with the program beginning at 6. Following, there will be a resource fair and refreshments.

The conference agenda included:

  • "Human Trafficking 101," a training session led by Amy Leenerts of Free2Hope, will educate attendees on ways to prevent human trafficking.
  • Angela Renfro, creator of The Kristy Love Foundation and a survivor of trafficking, will speak.
  • A resource fair will feature representatives from various community and campus organizations  that provide resources for victims of human trafficking. Conference attendees will also learn ways they can get involved in ending human trafficking.

The event is free and open to the public. Paid parking is available in the Floyd Street Parking Garage and on the street in surrounding areas.
