Tuition rate does not include costs associated with a specific course or program, such as textbooks.

Eligible full-time UofL employees may use their tuition remission benefits for Winter Session classes (up to 8 credit hours per term) provided they have not reached their yearly maximum. For transcript purposes, Winter Session courses are considered part of the Fall Term and charged per credit hour. However, these courses will be billed separately and in addition to Fall Term course load. For more information about tuition remission, see http://louisville.edu/hr/benefits/education.

Tuition and fees are subject to change at any time without prior notice. The summary on this page is intended to provide a quick reference for students. For more information and updates, visit the UofL Bursar's page.

  • Financial Aid

For Financial Aid processing, the Winter Session is considered part of the fall semester at the University of Louisville, however, you are billed separately for these courses. The Financial Aid Office is committed to assisting students in determining their aid eligibility for the winter session so it is important to talk with a Financial Aid Counselor as soon as you decide to enroll in the Winter Session.

    For your planning purposes:

    • Current UofL students, it is best to talk with a financial aid counselor as soon as you plan to register for the winter session to see what options may be available to you. Limited financial aid may be available for current students and is not guaranteed.
      • Current students who wish to use their remaining subsidized or unsubsidized loan eligibility should contact a financial aid counselor no later than 12/7 to be eligible to receive those funds by the end of the loan period, which is 12/10.
    • Visiting students are not eligible for financial aid for the winter session.
    • Contact the Financial Aid office immediately after registering for the Winter Session so we can process any available aid quickly. Financial aid must be processed by 12/19 to allow for the funds to arrive before the university closes for the holidays on 12/25.

FAFSA – Financial Aid may be available if you have remaining eligibility from your aid programs.

    • You need to have FAFSA on file for 2020-2021
      • If you do not have 2020-2021 FAFSA on file, you will need to complete it as soon as possible using your 2018 tax information at www.fafsa.gov
      • If you are a transfer student, make sure UofL’s school code (001999) is on your FAFSA

Scholarships - Check scholarship availability with the department in which you are enrolled. Trustees/Porter/Cardinal Covenant scholarships cannot be used during the winter session per the terms of condition for the scholarship program.

Alternative Loans – Students who plan to use alternative loans should contact a financial aid counselor no later than 12/16.

KRS tuition waiver - Students with KRS documentation on file associated with veterans, police officers, firefighters, state employees, supervising or resource teachers, and foster or adopted children will be automatically awarded tuition benefits as long as standard eligibility conditions are met.

Kentucky State Grant or KEES - state money only applies to the traditional fall and spring terms and will not pay for the winter session.

For information regarding financial aid, please contact UofL’s office (http://louisville.edu/financialaid) at 502.852.5511 or finaid@louisville.edu. Please note that the Financial Aid office will be closed 12/25/20 – 1/1/21. Students who need to speak with a financial aid counselor about aid for winter session must contact the office prior to 12/15.

    • Students will receive a tuition bill for Winter Session classes beginning in late October.
    • Bills will be due on December 15. Lack of payment could result in penalty including the assessment of a financial hold which will restrict the ability to add/drop future registrations.

I’m ready, let’s do this!
