Sunkara appointed as interim head of Conn Center
Mahendra Sunkara, professor of chemical engineering in the J.B. Speed School of Engineering, has been appointed as interim director of the Conn Center for Renewable Energy Research and Environmental Stewardship at the University of Louisville.
He will continue his leadership in organizing and staffing the center, reaching consensus on its research agenda and working with faculty, staff and students to secure externally funded grants and contracts to implement it.
His duties also will entail working with the Board of Directors of the state Center for Renewable Energy Research and Environmental Stewardship appointed by Gov. Steve Beshear. The operation of this center was assigned to UofL through a memorandum of agreement signed in October to assist in implementing the Governor's Energy Plan issued in the fall of 2008.
