See who's new at UofL

The Human Resources department welcomes new faculty and staff to UofL through a formal orientation process each week.

(Most new faculty attend orientation in July.)

Every few weeks, UofL Today will profile some new members of the UofL community and will list the names of the others who have attended orientation.

Meet three of the newest members of the UofL community:


Kim Francisco
Prefer to be called: Kim
UofL title and department: security officer, public safety
Short description of your job: Secure grounds of Papa John's Cardinal Stadium, facilities center and surrounding lots
Why chose UofL: Better opportunities now and in the future for me and my daughter
Schools Attended: Graduated from Doss High School in '95
Hobbies/Activities: Spending as much time with my daughter as I can. I work a lot. Anything fun and/or outdoors.
Favorite Book: Anything by Stephen King
Favorite Music: Too many to pick a favorite. Depends on the mood - working or relaxing.


Dedra Hayden
Prefer to be called: Dedra
UofL title and department: faculty, School of Nursing
Short description of your job: Nursing instructor for graduate students at the School of Nursing and clinical work at the Kentucky Race Track Clinic.
Why chose UofL: I had a wonderful experience as a student at UofL and have always aspired to be faculty here.
Schools attended: Jefferson Community College, University of Louisville (for bachelor's and master's degrees).
Hobbies/Activities: Camping and outdoors with my family. Coaching my 11-year-old daughter in fast-pitch softball.
Favorite Music: Country
Anything else you'd like people to know: I am thrilled with the opportunity to be a part of UofL!


M. Eli Pendleton
Prefer to be called: Eli
UofL title and department: assistant professor, family and geriatric medicine
Short description of your job: Seeing patients and supervising residents at Newburg Clinic, teaching medical students focusing on evidence-based medicine.
Why chose UofL: Great opportunities to teach future Kentucky physicians
Schools Attended: Linfield College, University of Kentucky (medical school), University of Virginia (residency, fellow)
Hobbies/Activities: Running, swimming, local food, music
Favorite Book: Hard to say. I enjoy many and usually try to read new ones rather than reread old ones.
Favorite Music: Wide variety. Can't wait to see The National at The Brown!
