Gary Bernstein, instructor, Department of Health and Sport Sciences Sports Administration Program, was published in OnSite Fitness Magazine. His article is titled “Facility Management in Nonprofit Organizations Part 1.
Bradley Carpenter, assistant professor, Department of Leadership, Foundations and Human Resource Education, was invited to present at the American Association of School Administrators’ (AASA) annual conference in February. Carpenter, along with Brian Shumate and Katy Zeitz with JCPS, presented, “Importance of Political Savvy and Innovative Partnerships in School Turnaround.”
Jake Gross, assistant professor, Department of Leadership, Foundations and Human Resource Education, presented “Using Longitudinal Data Systems to Answer Policy Questions” at the Kentucky Education Researcher Roundtable in February. The Council on Post-Secondary Education hosted the event.
Mark Leach, professor, Department of Educational and Counseling Psychology, Counseling, and College Student Personnel, was named a fellow of the American Psychological Association (APA) division of International Psychology, for his outstanding contributions to international psychology. He is also a Fellow of the APA division of Counseling Psychology.
Jennifer McCants, assistant professor, School of Dentistry, recently was inducted into the 2014 class of American Dental Education Association (ADEA) Leadership Institute Fellows. The ADEA Leadership Institute is a yearlong program that prepares educators for expanded roles in their institutions and the profession. The ADEA selects fellows through a competitive application process.
Daya Sandhu, professor, Department of Educational and Counseling Psychology, Counseling and College Student Personnel, was reappointed by Gov. Steve Beshear for a second four-year term to serve on the Kentucky Board of the Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors. Sandhu also was selected to receive the Arthur A. Hitchcock Distinguished Professional Service Award at the annual convention of the American Counseling Association (ACA). This prestigious award honors service by an ACA member at the local, state, or national level to promote or enhance the wellbeing of the counseling profession. Sandhu was the only member of the 52,000-member organization to receive the award.
The National Council of Teachers in English has selected Kathryn Whitmore, professor and chair of the Early Childhood Research Center, for the 2013 Whole Language Umbrella Lifetime Membership Award.
