Faculty, staff invited to wobble, slide, shuffle Aug. 15
A happy hour of a different kind will take place Aug. 15 at the Red Barn.
The Line Dancing Happy Hour for faculty and staff is scheduled for 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. as a fun way to kick off the academic year, give people a chance to reconnect with colleagues and meet new ones, let their hair down—even burn a few calories.
“In addition to what we’re calling ‘urban’ dances (Electric Slide, Cupid Shuffle), we are going to do a little Salsa dancing and some country line dancing,” said Diane Whitlock, an event organizer. “We encourage everyone to wear comfortable clothes, and we’ll have bottled waters and popcorn (from the popcorn machine) to help everyone stay hydrated and refreshed.”
Sponsoring partners are the UofL employee resource groups (Black Faculty/Staff Association, Faculty and Staff for Human Rights, Hispanic/Latino Faculty and Staff Association, White Allies for Racial Justice); the Red Barn Association; and Get Healthy Now. GHN will have a table where people can get information on the program’s services.
Admission is free.
“Even if people choose not to dance, it will be fun watching others and just making connections,” Whitlock said.
