1) Today’s Diderot celebration has changed location
1 p.m. Collaborative Learning Center, Room 117A, Ekstrom Library
Today’s celebration of French Enlightenment philosopher Denis Diderot will not be in Chao Auditorium. The event focuses on Diderot’s “Encyclopédie, ou Dictionnaire raisonné des sciences, des arts et des métiers,” which is on display in the Kain Rare Books Gallery, lower level, Ekstrom Library.

3.) Turn Your Influence into a Green Dot
2 p.m. Oct. 16 Human Resources 103A

The Green Dot is a signature prevention program started in Kentucky that has spread to more than 80 campuses across the country. We will explore aspects of power-based personal violence including the nature of sexual and relational violence on college campuses, research-informed bystander dynamics, reporting expectations and how to support students affected by violence. We’ll also explore specific ways you can use your words, choices and actions in your area of campus to make a difference.

4.) Safezone Training I
10 a.m. Sept. 18 Human Resources 103A
Free
The university’s Safe Zone Project is a workshop designed to give faculty and staff the tools and resources they need to understand LGBT issues and create a welcoming, affirming campus environment for all. This fun and informative two-hour session can be tailored for any setting or group and focuses on basic information and understanding. You don’t have to be an expert in sexuality or gender identity/expression to attend, just someone who is interested in helping all members of the campus.

5.) HR Listens: Grievance and Appeals
Noon Oct. 16 Human Resources 103A
Free
HR Listens is back. The Employee Relations and Staff Development Team will take your questions and comments regarding grievances and appeals. Please be sure to attend this session and bring a friend. We will have water and lemonade, if you would like to bring your lunch.

6.) Reminder: PeopleSoft Human Resources and Student Database to be offline
Five to six days starting Oct. 11 at 5 p.m.
The university’s Human Resources (HR) and Campus Solutions (CS) systems will be offline for five to six days while IT completes a database change and HR system upgrade. The database split and HR upgrade are required by Oracle, the application’s vendor. Functionality will remain at the same level, and staff members should notice few differences resulting from the changes.
