1.) World Music Series Presents the Cincinnati Klezmer Project Sunday

The School of Music World Music Series presents the Cincinnati Klezmer Project which performs, teaches and preserves authentic Eastern European Klezmer music, Jewish folk music, and Yiddish and Israeli songs.

2.) NO Cardiology Grand Rounds
Oct. 16
Cardiology Grand Rounds will resume Oct. 23 with the Leonard Leight Lecture. Joseph Loscalzo, MD, PhD, chair, Department of Medicine; Hersey professor of the theory and practice of medicine with Harvard University; and physician-in-chief at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, will present “Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension: Newer Concepts in Pathobiology and Treatment.” Please plan on arriving early as heavy attendance is expected.

The registration deadline for the University Business Training (UBT) continuing education event is Thursday, Oct. 17. UBT Certificate holders will need to attend one session every two years to maintain their certificates. Topics for discussion will include risk management, University Archives and the UBM, and a review of recent updates to the UBT curriculum. Guest speakers will include University Ombuds Tony Belak. 8.) Talk on ‘Reducing Nuclear Dangers’

“Reducing Nuclear Dangers: Challenges and Opportunities for the International Non-Proliferation Regime.” Ambassador Susan Burk, former special representative of the president for nuclear non-proliferation, will speak at noon. Lunch will start at 11:30 a.m., and will be provided by the Center for Asian Democracy. If you cannot attend the lunch portion of the program, you are welcome to join us just the talk. 9.) A&S Alumni Fellow David ‘Jelly’ Helm to talk this Saturday as part of UofL Homecoming celebration
11 a.m. doors open, 11:30 a.m. talk begins, Oct. 19 Cressman Center for the Visual Arts
Free and open to the public but registration recommended
A&S Alumni Fellow David “Jelly” Helm is a pioneer in the field of responsible advertising, working with companies like Starbucks, Nike, Wikipedia, DC Comics and more. He will discuss the role of story in our changing world and how it relates to his field. Enjoy Helm’s talk and then walk the few blocks to the Red and White Scrimmage. Please note that the THINK AGAIN homecoming activities originally scheduled for Saturday at the Cressman Center have been cancelled.

10.) Molecular Targets Seminar

The Molecular Targets Seminar Series will present “Statistical Models and Methods for Personalized Treatment Planning.” Our speaker will be Karunarathna Kulasekera, PhD, chair and professor, Department of Bioinformatics and Biostatistics, School of Public Health and Information Sciences, UofL. This seminar series is funded by the Brown Cancer Center Joan Cralle Day Cancer Research Fund. Refreshments will be served at 3:30 p.m.
