1.) Save the date: National Employee Health and Fitness Day

May 21, 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., Get Healthy Now Wellness Center, 601 Presidents Blvd.

Employees, retirees, their spouses/QA

Join Get Healthy Now for activities aimed at helping you make the healthy lifestyle changes you crave. Refreshments provided at the wellness center will fuel your workout. Free blood glucose and cholesterol testing from 7:15 to 9 a.m. and blood pressure screenings throughout the day. Yoga and Pilates classes will be free of charge for members, along with our fitness classes (check out our May schedule here). 2.) EndNote training available

3.) CORRECTION: Webcast: OMB Uniform Guidance, Key Issues for Universities

The ROP group with sponsorship from the HSC Research Office/School of Medicine has put together two locations to view the NCURA webcast, “The OMB Uniform Guidance: Key Issues for Universities.” Refreshments provided by EVPRI. All are welcome to attend. UBMs, faculty and anyone involved in research administration or proposal submission (pre- or post-award) are encouraged to attend. The new OMB uniform guidance is the single most significant change in research regulations in the last 50 years.

4.) Summer Suzuki Steps baby/toddler music classes offered

June 1, June 8, July 13, July 20; 2 to 3 p.m.; Clifton Center, 2117 Payne St.

$15 per class, $20 registration fee, $25 book/CD

This is a Suzuki Early Childhood Education class based on the “Mother Tongue Approach.” Classes will be offered through the University of Louisville at the Clifton Center. There will be four classes for the summer 2014. Classes will be led by Blaise Poth and Jennifer Shackleton. Both are teachers with the Community Music Program at the University of Louisville and are also musicians with the Louisville Orchestra.

5.) Summer camp offered by the College of Education and Human Development

July 14 to 18; 9 a.m. to 2:45p.m., Porter Building, Belknap

UofL employees: $78.50; public: $85

The “You’ve Got the Write One” camp is intended for students (rising 4th to rising 8th graders) who would enjoy an interdisciplinary academic enrichment experience incorporating technology and writing. Participants in this summer enrichment camp will work in small groups led by practicing teachers and teacher education candidates. Campers will create multiple literacy-based projects, participate in technology-oriented learning experiences and spend a day at the Frazier History Museum.

6.) May is Bike Month at the University of Louisville

Learn more about the biking initiative here at the University of Louisville! Do something kind for your body and your community! Events and programs such as Bike to Work Day (May 30), the National Bike Challenge (ongoing), and bike share program are all available in celebration of healthy, sustainable transportation. Make a commitment to have some two-wheeled fun, and see the city in a whole new way.

7.) Cardiovascular Grand Rounds to be held today

May 13, noon to 1 p.m., Baxter I, Baxter Auditorium, basement (note schedule change)

Please join us when Cardiovascular Medicine Grand Rounds welcomes Jennifer Van Eyk, PhD, professor and director of the Advanced Clinical Biosystems Research Institute at Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles, Calif.  She will present "Translational Proteomics:  From Discovery to Patient Care."

8.) Endocrinology Grand Rounds presents Dr. Swapna Dharashivkar Deo
