1.) Campus Kentucky Author Forum featuring Elaine Pagels

Elaine Pagels, professor of religion at Princeton University, is considered to be one of the world’s foremost religion scholars. John Ferré, A&S interim dean, will moderate a forum and Q&A with Pagels. The forum will focus on Pagels’ new book “Revelations: Visions, Prophecy, and Politics in the Book of Revelation.” Pagels will be guest of the Kentucky Author Forum in the evening.

The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine is pleased to present “Use of Stem Cells in Patients with Ischemic Cardiomyopathy” by Roberto Bolli, MD, chief, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine; director, Institute of Molecular Cardiology, UofL. The Diversity Programming Committee of CODRE and Office of the Vice Provost for Diversity & International Affairs encourages students, faculty, administrators, academic departments, alumni and trustees to nominate members of the university teaching faculty for the 2013 Multicultural Teaching Award.

7.) 2013 Adult Learner Awards
Do you know an adult student (graduate and/or undergraduate) who has made great strides toward getting an education and improving her or his life? Do you know a faculty/staff member who goes the extra mile to help adult students succeed? The Metroversity Outreach Committee is taking nominations for outstanding adult students, staff and faculty members. Deadline for nominations is Friday, March 8 at 5 p.m. Submit nominations online.

Need some guidance in your prayer life? Check out Daniel’s prayer in the Old Testament, Daniel chapter 9. Come join us Wednesday morning to discuss this prayer by a man devoted to God. It’s a great time for the UofL community to come together for fellowship, encouragement, Bible study and prayer. Future meetings scheduled for March 20 and April 3 and 17. We meet at the InterFaith Center. Use the east entrance. We look forward to seeing you there.

9.) Faculty: Apply now for the new 2013-14 Digital Pedagogy Faculty Learning Community.
Application deadline is March 18
Are you interested in creating podcasts, designing audio essay assignments, developing data visualization presentations or some other digital teaching approach? If so, this is the opportunity for you. The community will begin with a required intensive four-day workshop May 13–16. Four follow-up sessions during the 2013–14 academic year will offer participants ongoing technical and pedagogical support for their individual projects. Co-sponsored by the Delphi Center and the Composition Program.
