2.) iClicker/iClickerGo Demo

Please join the Delphi Center and Glen Garrett from iClicker for lunch and a session about iClicker/iClickerGo. iClicker is a tool that allows students to submit answers for in-class polling, and iClickerGo adds the convenience of using a smart phone or laptop as a substitute clicker. Lunch will be provided for this session. Please RSVP to Linda Leake, 852-4332, so we have an accurate lunch count.

3.) Grant Crafting Brown Bag Lunch Series: Evaluation Plans

The Grant Crafting Brown Bag Series is presented by the A&S Research Office in collaboration with the CEHD Research Office. This session, presented by Thomas Tretter, PhD, director of the Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium and associate professor in CEHD, will focus on creating effective evaluation plans for your proposal and potential evaluation strategies. The presentation will last about 45 minutes with time afterward for questions and discussion. Please feel free to bring your lunch.

4.) Fulbright ambassador to speak about program experiences

8 a.m. March 17, Room 123, CTR (HSC,) and noon, University Club (Belknap)

Dom Caristi, PhD, a two-time Fulbright scholar and a current Fulbright ambassador from Ball State University, will be on campus March 17 to discuss his experiences working with the program and the many opportunities being a Fulbright Scholar provides. Caristi will speak at HSC from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in CTR room 123 and from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the University Club. RSVP toConnie Kidd, 852-6720.

5.) Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society: Copernicus, Genesis and Sept. 11: Science’s history and the problem of public perception of science

Christopher Graney, professor of physics and astronomy at Jefferson Community and Technical College, published an article in January’s “Scientific American” on “The Case Against Copernicus.” At this Sigma Xi talk, he will discuss the 16th century heliocentric debate as related to science denial today, and how the new “Cosmos” TV series by Neil deGrasse Tyson creates a perception of science associated with conspiracies and cover-ups, feeding science denial. A planetarium show follows his talk.

Please join us when Cardiovascular Medicine Grand Rounds welcomes Susan S. Smyth, MD, PhD. Smyth will present “Targeting Inflammation in Atherothrombosis: Validating Novel Pathways.” She is chief of the Cardiovascular Medicine Division at the University of Kentucky and director of the Gill Heart Institute in Lexington.
