1.) William Bailey: Paintings Drawings Prints — works on paper

Free
The UofL Hite Art Institute is pleased to present William Bailey: Paintings Drawings Prints — works on paper at the Cressman Center for Visual Arts. This exhibition features more than 30 works on paper, which highlight both of Bailey’s signature still life and figurative styles and illuminate his distinctive color palette. A reception will be held during the First Friday Trolley Hop March 1 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

3.) March is National Eye Donor Month
National Eye Donor Month promotes eye donation awareness and celebrates the lives of cornea donors and corneal recipients. The UofL Lions Eye Bank is a nonprofit, charitable organization dedicated to restoring sight through cornea transplantation, medical research and education. Corneal transplants restore sight to people of all walks of life, from the very young to the very old. Learn more about corneal transplants or how you can become a cornea donor.

4.) Call for Proposals — 2013 CUMU Conference
UofL is proud to host the 19th Annual Conference of the Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities (CUMU) Oct. 26 – 29 at the Galt House. Conference theme is “Transforming and Sustaining Communities through Partnerships.” Proposals are being accepted until April 1 in the following tracks: Partnerships for Education; Healthy Communities; Economic Development and Revitalization; and Environmental Initiatives. 5.) A&S/JCC Summer Camps
The College of Arts and Sciences and the Jewish Community Center offer two one-week Summer Camps at UofL: the Young Astronomer’s Camp and Creative Writer’s Camp. University employees receive a 10 percent discount on these two camps. Open to children in grades 4–6, camps take place July 22–26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. In addition to time on Belknap Campus, camps offer swimming at the JCC and transportation to/from Belknap Campus.

6.) Violent Economic 'Reform' and the Growing Violence against Women

Free and open to the public
Physicist, philosopher and world-renowned ecofeminist Vandana Shiva will give the annual Minx Auerbach Lecture in Women’s and Gender Studies. Shiva will discuss the connection between current economic “reform,” which she sees as not progressive, and the growing violence against women as an international feminist issue. A reception will follow the lecture.

7.) Planning for Retirement in 2013/2014
1 p.m. – 3 p.m. March 29 Room 336, College of Business, Belknap Campus

Thinking about retiring soon? If so, register now to attend a two-hour retirement workshop sponsored by the School of Accountancy and presented by faculty member Sheila Johnston CPA, CFP. This workshop will cover retirement issues, tax and tax planning issues, required minimum distributions (RMDs), withdrawal rates in retirement, income planning, spending plan, social security issues and other issues in transitioning to retirement.
