2.) Couples Coping with Cancer-Related Stress Conference

This one-day conference brings together prominent scholars from Europe, North America and Australia to present their research and scholarship on the processes of coping with cancer-related stress in the context of a personal relationship. Keynote presenters: Benjamin Karney, PhD, University of California, LA; Guy Bodenmann, PhD, University of Zurich; Laura Porter, PhD, University of NC; Janine Giese-Davis, PhD, University of Calgary; Jennifer Scott, PhD, University of Tasmania.

The Department of Neurosurgery is pleased to have Dong H. Kim, MD, present, “A Nonsense Mutation In thsd1 Encoding Thrombospondin Type1 Domain Containing Protein Causes Autosomal Dominant Intracranial Aneurysms.” Kim is the chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Texas. Continuing education credit is available, and continental breakfast will be served.

4.) Tuition Remission for summer 2013
Attention all employees and dependents using tuition remission for summer 2013. Please click here to submit the online form. Employees have until June 6 to withdraw with 100 percent refund for Summer Term II. Note: Withdrawals which do not result in a refund of 100 percent of tuition paid shall constitute unsatisfactory performance for the semester. For assistance, please call Human Resources at 852-6258. Adults (ages 19-30) are invited to participate in a study of memory, emotion and mental health. Eligible adults have ended a dating relationship in the past year and experienced many times when your former partner: verbally attacked you, controlled what you could do, withheld information, isolated you or denied you resources. You aren’t eligible if ever married or currently in an abusive relationship. You’ll recall events from your past relationship and complete questionnaires. $16 compensation.

The Molecular Targets Seminar Series will present “Epithelial-mesenchymal Transition in Basal-like Breast Cancer.” Our speaker will be Binhua (Peter) Zhou, MD, PhD, associate professor, Department of Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry, Markey Cancer Center, University of Kentucky.
