1.) Public concerts part of International Guitar Convention and Competition
June 25 - 30 Margaret Comstock Concert Hall; Brown Theatre, 315 W. Broadway (weekend)
8 p.m. nightly; Single ticket prices: $30, $15 students
Classical guitarists from around the world will perform public concerts as part of the 2013 International Guitar Convention and Competition. Among them are 11-time Grammy winner Paquito D’Rivera and Berta Rojas, international cultural ambassador of her homeland, Paraguay, who perform June 29 at the Brown Theatre. Purchase tickets to concerts, competition final and Hall of Fame ceremony online. The School of Music is hosting the convention and competition.

3.) Information Session for the Certificate in Health Professions Education program
Noon - 1 p.m. July 23 Room 205, Elkes Conference Room, Instructional Building
The fall semester course will be ELFH 675-96 Teaching and Learning in Health Professions Education. The Certificate in Health Professions Education Program is aimed primarily at health care professionals who are teaching in a health care educational program and would like to enhance their teaching skills. The certificate program is especially beneficial for physicians, dentists, nurses, researchers, dental hygienists and others interested in a career teaching at an academic health center.

The UofL Kosair Charities Pediatric Clinical Research Unit at Kosair Children’s Hospital is conducting a clinical research study to evaluate acetaminophen given into a vein to treat moderate to severe pain in infants and children less than 2 years of age following surgery or an injury. Subjects may be compensated for time/travel.

7.) Pain Study, ages 2 years through 12 years

The UofL Kosair Charities Pediatric Clinical Research Unit at Kosair Children’s Hospital is conducting a clinical research study to evaluate an oral liquid pain medicine to treat pain
following surgery in children from 2 years through 12 years of age. Subjects may be compensated for time/travel.

8.) Pediatric High Blood Pressure Study, ages 1 year through 5 years

The UofL Kosair Charities Pediatric Clinical Research Unit at Kosair Children’s Hospital is conducting a clinical research study to evaluate the safety and dose response of an investigational drug used for high blood pressure. Children from 1 year to < 6 years of age diagnosed with high blood pressure may be eligible for participation. Subjects will be compensated for time/travel.
