Free
Becky Carothers, MD, Children & Youth Project medical director, and Andrea Hunt, Legal Aid Society, present “What? A Lawyer in the Doctor’s Office? Doctors & Lawyers for Kids: A Medical-Legal Partnership.” They will explain the concept of a medical-legal partnership and its national trend and identify social determinants of health with a legal remedy. Discuss legal assistance in a preventative model.
Additional Information: CME category 1 is available for both AAFP & ACCME accreditation and a continental breakfast will be provided. Email Callie Booth for additional information.

Please join us Friday for a Pediatric Grand Rounds featuring Dan Stewart, MD; Mia Coulter-Nellums, RN, BSN; Ramona Fauth, BGS, CRT; Jodi Behr, RN, MSN; and Darcy Walworth. They will present “New Innovations in the Care of the Neonate,” including the potential benefits of music therapy in the NICU. We hope to see you there.

In addition to its regular fresh produce, fruits and vegetables, The Root Cellar will be selling these farmers market items: special on mushrooms, peaches (on sale for 3 lbs. for $5). Also, whole duck, chuck roast and bottles of buttermilk can be ordered via their website.

4.) Exhibition: George Croghan: The Fallen Hero
Aug 1. – Sept. 30 Historic Locust Grove, 561 Blankenbaker Lane

George Croghan was a hero of the War of 1812, with brilliant success at the Battle of Fort Stephenson in 1813. His later years were marked by failure and disgrace. Croghan’s life is presented through family artifacts and memorabilia and public and private documents. Historic Locust Grove is a member of UofL’s Center for Arts and Culture Partnerships.

5.) The Andersons of Soldier’s Retreat
1 p.m. Aug. 7, Historic Locust Grove, 561 Blankenbaker Lane.
Admission $4; $3 for Friends of Historic Locust Grove. Reservations not required.
Gwynne Tuell Potts will present, “The Andersons of Soldier’s Retreat.” Richard Clough Anderson served in the Revolutionary War as an aide to General Lafayette. His home, Soldier’s Retreat, was an important information source for the restoration of Locust Grove. Dessert and coffee are served at 1 p.m. with the lecture following at 1:15 p.m. Reservations are not required. Historic Locust Grove is a member of the Center for Arts and Culture Partnerships.

6.) 20/20 Talks at the Gray Street Farmers Market

At this week’s 20/20 Talk, Joe Franzen, local educator and facilitator for Louisville’s FoodWorks program, will discuss interdisciplinary project-based education that uses the intersection of food and community as an opportunity for study and growth. Next week, Aug. 1, Diana C. Pantalos, MS, RD, LD, senior nutritionist, UofL Physicians – Pediatrics, will present “FAT in food: How BAD is that?!” Gray Street Farmers Market is held every Thursday, 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. until Oct. 31.
