Campus-Submitted Announcements

Miscellaneous

1.) Police: Cyber-scammers targeting universities

As cyber-thieves target university employees around the country, the UofL Police Department is warning staff to be especially wary of emails that appear to come from human resources and contain a link requiring university login credentials. At least one university in Kentucky already has been targeted in such a scam, in which an email claims employees are getting a raise and have to login to a website to confirm the information. The scammers use the login information to have employee payroll allocations redirected to another account. The phishing emails have been plaguing universities since at least January. If you receive an email like this, do not click on the link. If you think you have been a victim of a cyber-scam, call University Police at 852-6111.
