1.) I scream, you scream—for campus ice cream social
2 p.m. to 4 p.m. July 25 behind Grawemeyer Hall, Belknap Campus
Free, open to all employees
President James Ramsey and Provost Shirley Willihnganz invite faculty and staff to enjoy Comfy Cow ice cream while socializing with them and their fellow employees. The Great Places to Work initiative sponsors the event.

2.) UofL Night at the BATS
5:30 p.m. with game time at 7:05 p.m., Aug. 22, Slugger Field
$7. Purchase tickets by Aug. 2 to get possible perks (see below).
Bring the family to UofL Night at the BATS. Enjoy free merry-go-round rides for the kids, music and discounts at the Against the Grain. The internationally acclaimed Cardinal Singers will perform the national anthem. Buy your tickets by Aug. 2 for chance to win prizes including a BATS VIP family pack for four and opportunity for your child or grandchild to call the first pitch over the stadium PA system. Sponsored by the UofL Alumni Association and Great Places to Work Initiative.

3.) Home drive and file shares offline July 19 - 20
10 p.m. Friday, July 19 until 6 p.m. Saturday, July 20
University home (H:) drives, and file shares such as I:, P:, or other departmental drives, will be offline for maintenance. During this time, you will not be able to access files that are stored on these drives.

4.) AT&T Mobility representatives available in Miller IT Center every Friday in July
11 a.m. – 1 p.m. July 19, July 26
Representatives with AT&T Mobility will be available at the kiosk on the lower level of Miller IT Center. Faculty or staff members interested in learning more about AT&T Mobility Services can stop by to ask questions about personal and departmental account options, including discounts available to UofL employees.

Miscellaneous
5.) E-Reserves for distance education courses
Faculty can request that Electronic Reserves pages be created with full-text links to journal articles or book chapters for distance education courses. E-Reserves can be placed on Blackboard or on library research guides connected with the program of study.

6.) Notice: July 1, 2013 transition of federally funded clinical trials to OSPA
Submission of proposals/management of awards for federally funded clinical trials has transitioned from Industry Contracts to Sponsored Program Admin/Grants Div. OIC will continue to manage currently funded awards/proposals previously submitted and proposal submissions/award administration for clinical trials funded by non-federal sponsors (Industry/Private/Non-Profit). Submit future proposals for federally funded clinical trials to OSPA.

7.) HSC Faculty: Last chance to register! Technology showcase is July 25.
11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. July 25 Clinical and Translational Research Building, Room 101
Come and see what your faculty colleagues are DOING with instructional tools as diverse as wikis, social media, SoftChalk, human patient simulation, Camtasia videos and adaptive flashcards. Eight 50-inch flat screen TVs and a “speed dating” format will make this an engaging learning and information sharing opportunity for everyone. You can drop in anytime, have lunch, stay for 30 minutes, or stay for the entire two hours—whatever is most convenient for your clinic and work schedule.
