1.) GE HOME 2025 exhibit to open

Free
Come see how some of the brightest minds at GE Appliances are conceptualizing advances in technology and societal changes that will shape our kitchen over the next 12 years, including how we will make dinner, wash clothes, and interact with information to make our lives easier. The exhibit runs through Aug. 31.

2.) Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Women’s Health

Please join our department as Carrie Cwiak, associate professor, division director of family planning, Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Emory University School of Medicine, presents, “Contraception for the medically complex patient.” She will discuss the CDC’s medical eligibility criteria and selected practice recommendations with guidelines for use in clinical situations.

3.) Family and Geriatric Medicine

Winsor Schmidt, endowed chair; Distinguished Scholar in urban health policy; professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences and of family and geriatric medicine presents, “Ethical and Legal Issues in Assisted Reproductive Technologies: Artificial Insemination, In Vitro Fertilization and Surrogacy.” He will identify and discuss ethical and legal issues in assisted reproductive technologies, review related ethical and legal options and help participants understand judicial resolution of assisted reproductive issues.

5.) New Plone 3 to Plone 4 conversion course
Aug. 1, Health Sciences Center; Aug. 2, Belknap Campus
Need to learn more about converting your department’s website from Plone 3 to Plone 4? IT is offering a new free training course, “Plone 3 to 4 Conversion—Step 1.” The course is designed for those in charge of their department’s website and includes how to request a staging site, choose a template, learn about Responsive Web Design and more.

6.) Forefront Online Protection external spam quarantine to be phased out this summer
IT will phase out the external spam email quarantine known as Forefront Online Protection this summer. Outlook’s built-in Junk Mail feature will be used instead, to avoid logging in to a separate website with a separate password. With Junk Mail, you can set spam preferences such as lists for “safe senders” and “blocked senders.” The external Microsoft spam filtering system will continue to reduce unwanted email delivered to the university. More details will be announced this summer.

7.) Password Self-Service will be offline July 26 - 29
10 p.m. Friday, July 26 until 8 a.m. Monday, July 29
The password self-service system at password.louisville.edu will be offline while student accounts are upgraded. During this time, you will not be able to change your password.

8.) Root Cellar on campus Thursday
3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. July 18, University Club parking lot
The Root Cellar will be back this week selling its regular fresh produce, fruits and vegetables, in addition to some exciting new products: peaches, cantaloupe, blueberries, blackberries and corn. If you want to purchase products that are not regularly stocked in the Root Mobile, such as bottles of butter milk or specialty cuts of meat like whole duck and chuck roast, place your orders via the Root Cellar website.

9.) Parking for Urban & Public Affairs Building
Beginning Monday, July 22, and continuing through the fall 2013 semester, the entrance at Bloom and 5th Streets leading to the parking lot behind the Urban and Public Affairs building will be closed. Access to this lot will be available from Cardinal Boulevard, west of Bettie Johnson Hall.

IRB# 10.0613 The Spinal Cord & Brain Injury Research Laboratory at the Frazier Rehab Institute is looking for people ages 18 - 65 with a chronic spinal cord injury (>6 months) with a level of injury between C5-T10.
