2.) Louisville Regional Science Fair call for judges
7:45 a.m.–noon or 12:30 p.m.–4 p.m. March 9 Student Activities Center, Belknap Campus
The Louisville Regional Science Fair Board of Directors is calling for professionals at UofL to join its distinguished panel of science fair judges. Qualified judges will have expertise in a field of science, engineering, health or mathematics. UofL is an event sponsor.

Have you reached your goal? Do you have a ways to go? Need some encouragement on your journey of faith? Come join us Wednesday morning to discuss the third chapter of Philippians. It’s a great time for the UofL community to come together for fellowship, encouragement, Bible study and prayer. This will be our FIRST meeting for 2013. Future meetings scheduled for: Feb. 6 & 20, March 6 & 20. Use the east entrance to the InterFaith Center. We look forward to seeing you there.

5.) President’s Distinguished Faculty Awards – nomination period is open
Deadline is March 4
Nominations are requested for the 2013 Distinguished Faculty Awards. The annual awards honor faculty who bring distinction to UofL through their commitment to service; teaching; and outstanding scholarship, research, and creative activity. Submit nominations to your school’s unit committee or dean’s office by March 4. Award winners will receive a medallion and a check for $1,000 at a ceremony during the fall semester.

6.) Women’s History Month calendar submissions requested
Deadline is Jan. 25
Women’s History Month is celebrated in March and the UofL Women’s Center is compiling a list of campus and community events for its 2013 Women’s History Month calendar. The calendar will be online in conjunction with the spring 2013 Women’s Center News. If you are planning a program or event for Women’s History Month and would like to have it listed, submit info with complete details to Phyllis M. Webb or send it to womenctr@louisville.edu.

8.) University Business Training — Registration is open

The Delphi Center is opening registration for the University Business Training (UBT) program. The UBT curriculum provides individuals working with business processes at UofL with the training they need to be effective in their posts. This certification program focuses on UofL’s financial and human resource processes and is a blend of online and in-classroom training. If you are interested in an abbreviated version of this program, you may discuss your training options with John Spence.

10.) ‘Climate Science: Baby vs. Bathwater’

How can we tell which scientific findings about the climate are real and which are junk? How confident can we be in climate models? What roles do science and technology have in mitigating and adapting to climate change? What kinds of job prospects are there for those who want to do this work? Environmental engineer Sarah Lynn Cunningham, MS, PE, delivers this first lecture in the 2013 Social Change lecture series on “Science, Technology and Social Change.”
