Effective learning climates require both faculty and students to be intentional in thinking about their thinking so that they can improve it. This session will offer principles and practical suggestions to assist faculty in creating an environment where students are guided in becoming better learners through considering the role of metacognition in the learning process. 4.) GSC’s 5th Annual Graduate Research Symposium — Deadline extended.
The Graduate Student Council is extending its deadline for submissions to the 5th annual Graduate Research Symposium on March 21, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. in the Floyd Theatre, Student Activities Center. Graduate students have until Feb. 24 to get their online submission to GSC. We have a new, shorter format for oral presentations so graduate students will present to an interdisciplinary audience. Free food and prizes will be available to participants. Submit an oral or poster session proposal today.

The UofL Kosair Charities Pediatric Clinical Research Unit at Kosair Children’s Hospital is conducting a clinical research study to evaluate acetaminophen given into a vein to treat moderate to severe pain in infants and children less than 2 years of age following surgery or an injury. Subjects may be compensated for time/travel.

Psychological & Brain Sciences and the Peace, Justice, & Conflict Transformation Program present Jon McCourt on World Day of Social Justice. McCourt will share his compelling journey from participating in the first Civil Rights March in the city of Derry, Northern Ireland, to becoming a community peace activist. He will discuss struggle, loss, division, hope and healing, and share personal moments and reflections.
