Joseph Rotella, MD, chief medical officer of Hosparus, will present “A Different Lens: Using Film, Art and Poetry to Humanize the Medical Experience.” Learning objectives include outlining the problem of eroding empathy during medical education; describing the power and challenge of using the arts to drive engagement and foster medical humanism; and showing how particular film clips, artworks and poems can open our perspective and unlock empathy. Space is limited to 145 attendees. A box lunch will be provided. Email RSVP to gheens@louisville.edu by noon Tuesday, Dec. 3.

3. iClicker/iClickerGo Demo

Please join the Delphi Center and Glen Garrett from iClicker for lunch and a session about iClicker/iClickerGo. iClicker is a tool that allows students to submit answers for in-class polling, and iClickerGo adds the convenience of using their smart phone or laptop as a substitute clicker. Lunch is being provided for this session. Please RSVP to Linda Leake, 852-4332, so we have an accurate lunch count.

5. Neuroanatomy learning program at Kornhauser Library

The “Draw It to Know It” program, available from the Kornhauser Health Sciences Library, provides an interactive, problem-based learning format for neuroanatomy centered on drawing neuroanatomical structures while following web-based instruction. It includes tutorials, slides, exams, a brain atlas and a muscle and nerve directory. Off-campus and mobile access for iPhone and iPad are available here.
