3.) Microsoft Office 2013 available through iTech Xpress
iTech Xpress carries Microsoft Office 2013 Professional Plus for Work at Home. The software is intended for use on home computers of employees in Microsoft Campus Agreement. The package includes all basic Office applications, plus Publisher, Access, InfoPath and Lync. Each user may purchase one copy at $14.50, good for one computer. Microsoft Project and Visio 2013 will be available at a later date. Call 852-4943, visit iTech Xpress in MITC or online.

4.) University network offline Friday night
10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, to 2 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10
The university’s network will be offline during IT’s regular preventive maintenance period for a firewall upgrade. During this time, automated processes or programs that require network connectivity will be offline. Users also will be unable to access their on-campus computers from home via remote desktop during this time period. If you experience any connectivity issues after this change has been completed, call the IT HelpDesk at 852-7997.

5.) Wireless network offline Friday night
10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, to 2 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10
The university’s wireless network will be intermittently offline during IT’s regular preventive maintenance period. Please note that other systems (e.g. Blackboard, email, instant messaging, wireless, PeopleSoft, SharePoint, ULink, data services, etc.) may be taken offline without notice. The UofL Infant Cognition Lab (Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences) is conducting several studies on infant face perception. Infants who are between 3 and 14 months old with normal vision and hearing are invited to participate. Participation involves one brief visit to campus. 7.) Face recognition study for infants 6, 7, and 10 months old

10.) Mind-body connections study

Are you healthy, between the ages of 18 and 40? The UofL Stress & Health Lab is seeking men and women to volunteer for a research study on stress and health. Eligibility: no chronic medical or emotional condition (including ADHD), no prescription medication use (birth control acceptable), not pregnant/nursing. In this week’s 20/20 Talk, Amanda Fuller, a leader in ecological restoration and sustainable agriculture, will present, “Lots of Food: From Vacant to Delicious.” Stop by to learn about an exciting new enterprise that is transforming Louisville’s urban vacant lots into productive gardens and orchards. Next week, Aug. 15, Stephen Bartlett, director of Sustainable Agriculture of Louisville, will bring us together to grind fresh corn and discuss “Amazing Maize: The Peoples’ Sacred Seed.”
