1.) Free Suzuki classes for babies and toddlers
9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Aug. 24 Clifton Center, 2117 Payne St.
Free
The School of Music will present free demonstration classes for babies ages 0 through 3 and their parent. “Suzuki Steps!” will use nursery rhymes, action songs, lullabies and instruments to build on the child’s natural delight in learning and lay the foundation for musical skills such as beat, rhythm, pitch and tone. The class is for one child per parent and limited to 12 children/parents per class.

2.) Line Dancing Happy Hour for faculty and staff

Free
Faculty and staff are invited to come out for campus fun as we learn to do line dancing from a variety of genres (country western, popular and salsa). Bottled waters and popcorn will be available, and Get Healthy Now will provide information on its services. Come have fun with your colleagues and burn a few calories at the same time. This will be a fun way to build community for the new academic year.

3.) Coming soon to Kornhauser Library: ‘A Voyage to Health’
Sept. 9 - Oct. 19
Kornhauser Health Sciences Library will host the exhibit “A Voyage to Health: An exhibition about the revival of Native Hawaiian traditions.” “A Voyage to Health” explores the resurgence of Native Hawaiian culture to heal the soul of the community focusing on Kaho’olawe and the Hawaiian Movement, and the legacy and revival of the voyaging tradition.

Fitness and wellness classes, state-of-the-art equipment, fully refurbished locker rooms and NO monthly membership fees for UofL employees (>.40 FTE). Located at 601 Presidents Blvd. (a few blocks east of Belknap Campus). Check out the August group fitness schedule [pdf] with some fresh workout classes: Get R.I.P.P.E.D., Have a Ball, InCycle and ZUMBA. EndNote is a software program, for Mac or PC, used to create bibliographies, import/export references from databases, convert references to a chosen citation style and to manage PDFs. 9.) McConnell Center talks to focus on 20th century American milestones, leaders

UofL’s McConnell Center will offer a series of talks this fall commemorating 20th century political leaders and events. “Milestones of the 20th Century: Democracy in America” will include four free, one-hour lectures on Russell Kirk, Eleanor Roosevelt, George Marshall and Rose Kennedy.

10.) ‘Data Mining in the 21st Century’
11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Aug. 13, Room 103, School of Public Health and Information Sciences, HSC
Bert Little, MA, PhD, vice president of academic research and grants, Tarleton State University, will present “Data Mining in the 21st Century.” The presentation will focus on cutting-edge analysis of clinical information in large databases.
