Campus-Submitted Announcements

Information Technology
1.) SharePoint offline Friday night
10 p.m. Friday, April 26 - 2 a.m. Saturday, April 27
SharePoint will be offline for maintenance during IT’s regular preventive maintenance period. Please note that other systems (e.g. Blackboard, email, instant messaging, wireless, PeopleSoft, ULink, voice and data services, etc.) may be taken offline without notice. Complete information on IT’s preventive maintenance period. Questions? Contact the IT HelpDesk, 852-7997.

2.) Still using Windows XP? Support will end in April 2014
Are you still using the Windows XP operating system? Microsoft support for XP will end on April 8, 2014, in accordance with Microsoft’s Support Lifecycle policy. After this date, there will be no new security updates, free or paid assisted support options, or online technical content updates for XP. Unsupported operating systems are vulnerable to security risks. IT recommends that you upgrade to Windows 7. The new Windows 8 operating system is not fully compatible with UofL applications.
Additional Information: IT HelpDesk, 852-7997

Miscellaneous
3.) Bookstore needs your textbook orders: Textbook buy back has started
Have you turned in your textbook order for the summer and fall terms? Used textbooks are both cost effective and sustainable. If a used textbook will be used in a future semester the student will receive up to 50 percent of what they paid for that book. Help the students get the most for their used text books by turning in your summer and fall textbook orders now. Book orders must be submitted to the UofL bookstore.

5.) Compliance Awareness: Training in the Responsible Conduct of Research — Are you Up to Speed?
This is a very important question if you are in certain populations of the UofL research community. Whether you are subject to this requirement may depend upon your employment status, as in the case of postdoctoral fellows, scholars and associates; or your current funding source, such as those funded by National Institutes of Health or by the National Science Foundation. To learn more, please read “Training in the Responsible Conduct of Research — Are you Up to Speed?”
