1.) The Preservation Conversation: Grady Clay on Louisville

Free
“Preservation Conversation: Grady Clay on Louisville” is an exhibit highlighting Clay’s historic preservation writings and how they relate to Louisville’s preservation movement. It will be on display through May. Under the direction of professors Peter Morrin and John Begley, this student exhibit focuses on Clay’s article “Another Landmark Bites the Dust” from the April 1956 issue of Arts in Louisville.

3.) Green Tip: Spring Sustainability Week Starts Saturday

Kick off your weekend with service (Ali Shuffle, 8 a.m. April 13; SOUL’s Waterfront Park clean-up, noon April 14; and a Tree Canopy Inventory Study, 1 p.m. April 14), plus a Falls of the Ohio Hydropower Station Tour 1 p.m. April 13. On Monday, join us for the Sustainability Scholars Roundtable at 10:30 a.m. and the CSA Fair 11 a.m.–2 p.m. Get certified as a UofL EcoRep on Tuesday 9 a.m.–noon, then check out the Undergrad Research & Community Engagement Symposium 12:30–4 p.m. Wednesday enjoy the Sustainability Fair & Local Lunch 11 a.m.–1 p.m.

Warm weather is here, which means that spring outings, summer grill-outs and other special occasions will soon be upon us. Join Weigh To Go to learn about nutrition and exercise in warmer weather. This 12-week class offers weekly weigh-ins, discussion, accountability and support. Weigh To Go II, for previous Weigh To Go participants, meets on the same dates, locations and times.

5.) Protect your data from phishing emails
Several phishing emails have recently been sent to university accounts. These are fraudulent messages designed to trick users into clicking on harmful links or giving up sensitive information such as passwords. IT is not sending emails regarding quota limits, and will never request your password. The best defense is to exercise caution when viewing email. Be careful when clicking links, particularly when you do not recognize the sender of an email, and never give your password to anyone.

6.) Goodbye MDConsult, Hello Clinical Key — a new EBM tool from Kornhauser Health Sciences Library
Clinical Key is replacing MDConsult. Produced by the same company, Elsevier, Clinical Key is a one-stop tools that draws from all medical and surgical content provided by Elsevier, it offers comprehensive, evidence-based information using a search engine optimized for speed and relevance. Search as a generic user or customize it to your needs.

7.) Deadline extended — Outstanding Community Engagement Awards
Nominations will be accepted until April 29 for the 5th annual Outstanding Community Engagement Award. This award recognizes the outstanding community engagement of faculty, staff, students and community partners and comes with a $2,500 monetary award. All activity must have been performed in the 2012–2013 academic year.

8.) Patrick Kelly to lecture on college completion agenda today

The College of Education & Human Development’s Research Office presents Patrick Kelly, PhD, senior associate, National Center for Higher Education Management Systems (NCHEMS), guest lecture on “The College Completion Agenda: From ‘Education for Education’s Sake’ to Return on Investment and Gainful Employment.” Kelly received his PhD in Urban and Public Affairs and a master’s degree in sociology from UofL. He has been with NCHEMS for 11 years.
