The School of Music New Music Festival features the works of Sydney Hodkinson. In Rauch Planetarium: Electronic and computer music with guest composer-in-residence Howard Sandroff, 8 p.m., Nov. 7. Register now to attend a 1.5-hour retirement workshop sponsored by the School of Accountancy and presented by faculty member Sheila Johnston CPA, CFP. Topics include UofL benefits, amounts needed for retirement, basic retirement issues, etc.

4.) Angel Tree for Animals
Starting 8 a.m. Nov. 7, Lower Level, Houchens Building, Belknap Campus
The Angel Tree for Animals is a different way to give for the holidays. Items collected will benefit local animal shelters and rescuers to help in their fight to save homeless animals lives. Angel Tree for Animals will be placed beginning at 8 a.m., Nov. 7, Houchens Building, lower level. Sponsored by the Office of Transfer Articulation.

Yo Tomita, Gerhard Herz visiting Bach scholar, will present “Deciphering J.S. Bach’s Performance Hints in His Autograph Manuscripts.” An international authority on the music of J. S. Bach, Tomita teaches at Queen’s University in Belfast.

Students from UofL and surrounding universities will present papers on various philosophical topics throughout the day. Keynote speaker professor Osborne Wiggins will present “The Delirious Illusion of Being in the World” at 3:30 p.m.
