Campus-Submitted Announcements

Events
1.) Kornhauser Library concludes 175th anniversary
3 p.m.–5 p.m. Dec. 14, Kornhauser Library Atrium, Health Sciences Center
Robert E. Fox Jr., dean of University Libraries, and Neal Nixon, director of Kornhauser Library, along with the faculty and staff of the Kornhauser Library, invite you to a reception marking the completion of the library’s 175th anniversary.
Additional Information: RSVP to Mary K. Marlatt, 852-5775

Information Technology
2.) Information Technology reduces H: drive costs
IT will reduce the cost of additional home (H:) drive space effective Jan. 1. Currently, university employees receive 50MB of H: drive space free of charge, with each MB of additional storage charged at $.02 per MB. This cost is being reduced to $.015 per MB. The 25 percent decrease is a result of IT’s work toward reducing costs by standardizing and modernizing storage infrastructure. IT will continue seeking additional opportunities for increased efficiency and lower customer costs.
Additional Information: IT HelpDesk, 852-7997

Miscellaneous
3.) NIH delays funding for those non-compliant with public access policy
Effective spring 2013, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) will enforce compliance of its public access policy to new grant applications. This policy requires submission of journal manuscripts that arise from NIH funds to the digital archive PubMed Central upon acceptance for publication. If publications arising from grant awards are not in compliance with this policy, NIH will hold processing of non-competing continuation awards.
Additional Information: Visit Improving Public Access to Research Results, or contact Michel Atlas, 852-8534

4.) Kornhauser Library Interlibrary/Document Delivery requests
Dec. 18 is the last day to submit interlibrary loan or document delivery requests through Kornhauser Health Sciences Library. Requests received after that date will be processed in the order received beginning Jan. 2.
Additional Information: Visit Interlibrary Loan, or contact Kathy Rogers, 852-5091.

5.) Summer Research Opportunity Program (SROP)
The SROP provides UofL undergraduate students who would like to know more about graduate-level education at the university, with a 10-week research-intensive experience in a department that offers graduate degrees. Mentors will provide students with individualized research projects. All UofL departments with graduate programs will be supported. Students should be, preferably, in their sophomore or junior year of study.
