Outdoor siren test scheduled for Sept. 2

by UofL Today last modified Aug 31, 2010 09:03 AM

UofL will test the two public address outdoor warning sirens on Belknap Campus Thursday, Sept. 2, at 10 a.m.

The test will include an announcement. Do not be alarmed if you hear the siren or announcement. It is just a test.

The speakers, located at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium and behind Strickler Hall, are part of the UofL Alert system. Another part of the system is text messaging. In the event of an emergency and school closure for any reason, a text message is sent to everyone who has signed up . Students, faculty and staff can enroll for text messages through the system.

Other components of the alert system are e-mail via UofL account and messaging via office and residence hall telephones. These do not require registration.
