1.) The National Neurosurgery Outcomes Registry: N2QOD — Initial Results

At tomorrow’s Neuroscience Grand Rounds, the Department of Neurosurgery is pleased to have Maxwell Boakye, MD, MPH, MBA, FACS, FAANS, present, “The National Neurosurgery Outcomes Registry: N2QOD — Initial Results.” Boakye is an associate professor and the Ole A., Mabel Wise & Wilma Wise Nelson Endowed Chair in the Department of Neurosurgery. Continuing education credit is available, and continental breakfast will be served.

Join us for Department of Medicine Grand Rounds featuring John C. Alverdy, MD, FACS, the Sara and Harold Lincoln Thompson Professor of Surgery and executive vice chair, Department of Surgery at the University of Chicago. Alverdy will present, “The Evolution from Microbiome to Pathobiome during Critical Illness and the Immunopathology of Sepsis.” We’ll see you there.

3.) PeopleSoft HR SA maintenance to be performed Saturday
8 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Saturday, May 25
IT will perform quarterly maintenance to the PeopleSoft Human Resources and Student Administration systems. While the systems will be online during maintenance, all users should stay out of these systems to avoid processing inconsistencies. When maintenance is complete, the systems will be taken offline for approximately half an hour. This offline period will occur whenever maintenance is completed, and systems are expected to be back online no later than 5:30 p.m.

4.) Submit your events to the 2013 Cardinal Event Guide: Welcome Week and Beyond
Deadline June 12
If you have an event taking place between Aug. 26, 2013 and Dec. 17, 2013, submit it by Web form for possible inclusion in the Event Guide. The Event Guide is distributed to all first-year and many upper class students, so this is a great way to promote your fall programs and events.

6.) Green Tip: ’Tis the season for eating local
Eating local is one of the best things you can do to lower your environmental impact, strengthen our regional economy and improve your health. The Gray St. Farmers’ Market at HSC is now open for the season. Load up on local fare every Thursday 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Local food is also available on Belknap Campus through our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program (subscriptions still available), The Root Cellar at 3rd & Hill, UofL Dining Services and the grow-your-own Garden Commons.

7.) Sign up for free Plone 4 basics and SharePoint courses
Summer is the perfect time to sharpen your technology skills. Information Technology is offering a new Plone 4 Basics course. The course covers pages, links and images, and helps website contributors learn how to perform basic tasks to add and modify pages for their department’s Plone 4 site. IT also continues to offer its SharePoint 2010 course, which focuses on the Document Library, a SharePoint location where you can create, collect, update and manage files with your colleagues.
