On Saturday, January 10, 2015 the Upward Bound programs had over 100 student participants in attendance at a workshop facilitated by Miss Candice Johnson, Outreach Counselor - Louisville Metro East Area, from Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA).  KHEAA is the state agency that administers the Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship (KEES) and other financial aid programs for students in the state of Kentucky.

During Miss Johnson’s presentation, information was provided to Upward Bound student participants about creating a plan for their college future.  Students were coached on how to set personal goals as well as how to plan for goal attainment.  Students were also paired together in a peer mentoring exercise where they developed strategies for college preparation, enrollment, persistence, and degree attainment.

The student participants found Miss Johnson’s presentation and enthusiasm to be valuable keys to understanding the process and conquering college admission.
