Alicia Fireel (they/them) is a bi-polar, non-binary, queer writer, performer, and producer based in Louisville. As an actor, playwright, and journalist, Alicia is committed to de-stigmatizing neurodivergence and emerging queer identities. As founding Artistic Director of the Louisville Fringe Festival, they are committed to pushing back against assault and abuse in their theatrical community, as well as breaking down the racial divide in Louisville’s entire creative scene. #BraveArtistsDeserveSafeSpaces #BlackArtistsMatter

Alicia has performed at Pandora Productions, the Louisville Ballet, the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Theatre [502], Looking for Lilith, Finnegan Productions, The Necessary Theatre, Bourbon Burlesque, Louisville Championship Arm-Wrestling, Double Edged Stories, Taco Tiki Tuesday, and at Play Louisville. They were a co-creator and performer for Tales from the Jukebox and were featured at The Moth’s Grand Slam.

Alicia’s performance texts have been produced by Pandora Productions, the Louisville Ballet, Actors Theatre of Louisville (with the Hadley Creatives), Theatre [502], Looking for Lilith, Derby City Playwrights, and Suspend Productions. They were published in Louisville Review (Spring 2020), won the 2018 Arts Louisville award for best new play, and have had their works selected for readings at Pandora Productions and Louisville’s Writer’s Block Festival. They were a 2019 Hadley Creative and are the Artistic Director and Co-Founder of the Louisville Fringe Festival. They have been a featured critic for Insider Louisville, LEO Weekly, WFPL/NPR, Salon, Howlround, and TAUNT.

At UofL, Alicia has performed in The Birds (2020), [Re]Fashion (2021), Twelfth Night (2021), Code Switch (2021), and the Spring Shorts (2022). For their thesis show, they wrote and starred in The Girl Crazy Queer and Other Fairy Tales at Pandora Productions (2022). They will next be in the UofL production of Fairview (2023).
