About

Braden joined the Department of Theatre Arts as an Assistant Professor in 2021. He previously worked at Actors Theatre of Louisville (ATL) for 13 years. During his tenure at ATL he worked on over two hundred productions. Over that period, he held roles as a Scenic Carpenter (four years), Draftsman/Rigger (two years), Assistant Technical Director (four years), and Associate Technical Director (three years). Since 2013 he has been the Technical Director for sixty-five productions and has been either the Assistant or the Associate Technical Director for another sixty shows. While working at ATL, he developed real-world experience with mechanical and structural engineering. He  was responsible for aerial automation, rigging, purchasing, bookkeeping, budgeting, and drafting build drawings based on the drawings of the scenic designer. He was also regularly responsible for training up to twenty acting apprentices per year in technical production areas for the annual Humana Festival of New American Plays. One of his recommenders asserts that Mr. Blauser is “skilled at training early career technicians in skills related to safety, rigging, automation, drafting, and carpentry skill sets.” Braden holds a BA in technical theatre from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania.
