Civic Engagement, Leadership and Service Internship Opportunities

The Office for Civic Engagement, Leadership, & Service is seeking motivated graduate students to fill vacant internships for the spring and summer terms. The office strives to enhance the education of students by providing structured experiential and developmental opportunities that encourage responsible citizenship, leadership, and community engagement. Graduate Intern for Training and Development

  • Facilitate/Coordinate Training and Consultations
    • RSO training
    • Individual student consultations
    • Class presentations
    • Community workshops/trainings
  • Create civic engagement education program
  • Facilitate assessment of all programs and sessions
  • Assist with various leadership prgrams


Graduate Intern for Living-Learning Communities

  • Assist with general program in Leadership Quest
  • Coordinate faculty and student events
  • Attend leadership conferences and recruit residents to attend
  • Participate in planning meetings for LLCs
  • Facilitate assessment of program and/or activities


Graduate Intern for Alternative Breaks

  • Could create and be responsible for a trip in Fall  or Spring
  • Coordinate pre-break training and orientation sessions
  • Coordinate logistics for the trips
  • Participate in one of the two trips offered free as advisor
  • Attend meetings for these programs
  • Serve as contact for participants as necessary
  • Coordinate assessment of trips


Graduate Intern for SOUL (Summer)

  • Attend planning meetings
  • Work Orientation information table each session and interact with new students
  • Contact community agencies to participate in SOUL during Welcome Weekend
  • Arrange for buses and other logistics for SOUL
  • Arrange Welcome Weekend information tables for our office



Graduate Intern for Community Engagement and Service

  • Research other campuses and their use of advisory boards for leadership and service offices
  • Design distinct programs for specific groups (for example, create a mentoring program for women or community service programs focused on men and Asian American students)
  • Coordinate/Assist with:
    • Mayors Give a Day (Spring)
    • Make a Difference Day (Fall)
    • National Learn and Serve Week (Fall)
    • MLK Day of Service (Spring)
    • Community Service Fair (Fall)
    • SOUL Service Saturdays (Varies)
