IMPORTANT INFORMATIONFamily Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)FERPA affords students certain rights with respect to their education records and requires institutions to annually notify students of certain rights. These rights include: 1. The right to inspect and review the student's education records (with certain limited exceptions) within 45 days of the day the University receives a request for access. Another exception to FERPA permits UofL to release “Directory Information” which includes the following: name, postal and email address, phone number, date and (month and day only) place of birth, major fields of study, classification (freshman sophomore etc.), enrollment status (full-time or part-time), enrollment unit (A&S Music Kent School etc.), residency status, participation in officially recognized activities & sports, weight and height of athletic team members, dates of attendance, degrees and awards received, and most recent previous educational agency or institution attended. Student may request UofL to withhold all directory information. 4. Students have the right to file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education concerning alleged failures to comply with the requirements of FERPA.
