Campus Requirements and Health Protocols

Prior to arriving on campus, all students are required to complete a 10-12 minute video session about returning to campus and reducing COVID-19 risks for themselves and the Cardinal community. Log-in instructions have been sent to students' UofL email accounts and are also available in the COVID-19 Awareness Training section of the university's COVID-19 website. Everyone on campus must follow all university health protocols to support the health and safety of our community.

Social Gatherings

To reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19, individual students should not gather in groups of more than 10 people following the guidance from the State of Kentucky and CDC. Large gatherings of students are not permitted and may be in violation of the Code of Student Conduct.  As a Community of Care, no individual should risk exposure to the virus and cause it to spread in the UofL community.   Students should be vigilant in maintaining physical distancing, wearing face coverings, frequently washing their hands, and staying home when sick.

Fall 2020 Semester Information

Masks or face coverings are required in all public, indoor areas on campus. Every student will be given one cloth mask (with the UofL and SGA logos), but you will need to provide your own additional masks or face coverings. Please take time to get familiar with the University’s Mask and Face Covering Policy. Additionally, review the Mask FAQs for helpful details such as, “How will I receive my mask?” and more.
• UofL’s COVID-19 website has been updated to reflect fall 2020 information. The Students tab highlights student-specific information. The Health Protocols tab includes information on university health measures such as facility enhancements, cleaning, disinfection, testing, contact tracing and more. Bookmark this website and check it regularly for updates and answers to general Frequently Asked Questions.
• Check your UofL email often. There will be a lot of information and updates sent to your UofL email account throughout the semester. Be prepared for that and the increased level of awareness you’ll be expected to maintain as the university works to keep everyone continuously updated.
• A daily symptom check will be required before you leave your home/residence hall. You will receive instructions in your UofL email inbox before classes start with a link and instructions, which will also provide easy access to testing information, who to call, etc.

COVID-19 Testing

Registration is now open for the first wave of testing at UofL. We strongly urge every student, faculty and staff member to get registered and tested.  Testing sites will be open August 10-14 and August 17-21 on the Belknap campus and  the Health Sciences Center campus.  Go to https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040445a5a622a6fa7-bluewater1 and follow the steps provided on the registration portal. You will receive immediate confirmation of your appointment time after registering.

What To Do If You Become Sick

Do not come to campus if you are sick. Students are expected to check their symptoms daily and may not come to campus if they have any of the following symptoms:
• Fever of 100.4 or higher
• Cough
• Shortness of breath
• Sore throat
• Muscle aches
• Chills
• Gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g. nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, etc., unrelated to an underlying medical condition or pregnancy)
If you are concerned you may have COVID-19, or may have been in contact with someone who is positive for COVID-19, you should do the following:
• Stay at home.
• Notify Campus Health at 502-852-6446 or hlthoff@louisville.edu. Campus Health will provide you with appropriate guidance on isolation and testing.
• Contact your medical provider.

Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities

The Board of Trustees approved changes to the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities for the 2020-2021 academic year. Students should review this important information which includes: classroom rights, academic integrity, and freedom of expression information. Students or student organizations may picket or demonstrate for a cause. Individual students and student groups who are planning demonstrations and/or protests are encouraged to contact the Dean of Students office (dos@louisville.edu) to share if they are planning a demonstration and/or protest. The Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities is set forth in writing to provide students with general notice of their rights and responsibilities at the University of Louisville.

DINING SERVICES CORRECTION:

Dining Services needs to make a correction to the information that was provided in the university's "Fall 2020 Semester, What You Need to Know" email that was sent to all students on July 29.
Dining Services will open all dining venues on the HSC and Belknap campuses by August 17. Each venue will provide carry-out options and minimal dine-in seating that will be arranged to foster physical distancing. Visit the Dining Services website for information on meal plans, dining locations, hours and more. On the Belknap campus, a multi-use tent will be set up in the quad (the area between Ekstrom Library and the Bingham Humanities building) to solely provide outdoor seating for either eating or studying, no dining or carry-options will be provided by Dining Services there.
