Aug 21 Eclipse-Watching for Students with Society of Physics Students

Students/friends are invited to Mike Miller Park in Benton KY to watch Aug 21 eclipse. Bring a picnic/water, chairs etc, use Zimride if possible. Counts needed for logistics. See SPS website for links/registration/t-shirts/eclipse glasses details.

Solar Eclipse Viewing Safety

The solar eclipse will take place on Aug 21 from 12:59 until 3:51 p.m. in Louisville. Looking directly at the sun is unsafe. The only way to safely watch the solar eclipse is through special-purpose solar filters, such as “eclipse glasses” or hand-held solar viewers.  WARNING: Homemade filters and ordinary dark sunglasses are not safe for looking at the sun. If your solar filter is scratched or damaged, discard it. Follow any directions included with the filter.  Do not look at the sun through an unfiltered camera, telescope, binoculars, or other optical device (with or without your eclipse glasses—the concentrated solar rays will damage the filter and enter your eye(s) causing serious injury. Ekstrom Hours Change During Intersession

Ekstrom Library has adjusted its schedule during Intersession (Aug. 9-20). Hours: Mon-Fri: 8am-5pm; Sat: 9am-5pm; Sun, Aug. 13: closed; Sun. Aug. 20: noon-9pm.

Libraries Launch Research DIY

Research DIY features unique, appealing infographics, short videos, and other materials to help students with research tasks, including generating a good research question and finding the best statistics, articles, and primary sources.  

CCTSJR Undergrad Fellowships Available
