IMPORTANT INFORMATIONUK, UofL Keep Rivalry Alive with Gift of Life College ChallengeThe University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville keep their rivalry and competitive spirit alive while inspiring thousands of people to join the Organ Donor Registry with the 22nd year of the Gift of Life College Challenge. Starting November 1, in the span of four weeks, both universities will engage in a spirited competition to determine which school’s community can register the highest number of new organ, eye, and tissue donors. Since its inception in 2001, the Gift of Life Challenge has seen college students, faculty, coaches, and staff actively promote organ donation registration through on-campus events, social media campaigns, newsletter features, and donor registry sign-up stations. Last year, UofL Health/ UofL had over 460 people sign up as organ donors during the annual “Gift of Life” challenge with UK (UK only had approximately 30 donors sign up). The Trophy was awarded during the UofL/UK basketball game which was played at UK’s home court last year. The challenge began on November 1 and ends November 30, the universities will compete to see who can register the most individuals as organ donors. The health care system/university with the most participation will be recognized at the annual UofL vs. UK Men’s basketball game on December 21. Individuals who are already part of the state registry for organ donors (by signing up at the DMV, for example) can also enroll in this National Organ Donor Registry and still have their registration contribute to this challenge. Please consider signing up to be an organ donor and supporting this challenge, and also sharing it with others.
