Diverse Learning Environments climate surveyThe Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, in collaboration with the Office of Academic Planning and Accountability, will utilize the UCLA Higher Education Research Institute’s (HERI) Diverse Learning Environments climate survey for students at the University of Louisville. As an added incentive, names of students who complete the survey will be placed in a drawing, and eight names will be drawn to receive wireless earphones. The survey launched March 20 and will close on April 3. Your participation is voluntary. Your responses will be confidential and not linked to your name. Railroad work on Belknap Campus week of March 27Maintenance on the railroad tracks which run through Belknap campus is scheduled to take place the week of March 27. This will cause delays/closures at railroad crossings, especially at University Boulevard. The best alternate routes for drivers are via Old Eastern Parkway (off Floyd Street, under the Eastern Parkway overpass) and the South Brook Street Connector (off South Third Street). In addition to Old Eastern Parkway, pedestrians can cross the railroad tracks via the bridge from the Floyd Street Garage. See the University Parking & Transportation Services webpage for campus maps. Speed Art Museum Plaza ConstructionThe Speed Art Museum is reimagining the pedestrian plazas surrounding the museum. Construction will occur in several phases, with Phase 1 starting in April 2023. Pedestrian and vehicular access will be altered during construction, and signage will be posted in the area. ACADEMICSPLAN Workshop: Failure StoriesThis panel discussion for graduate students will highlight prominent, successful leaders sharing their failure stories and what they learned from the experiences with the goals of normalizing failure, considering the impact of mindset, and identifying strategies for resiliency. PLAN Workshop: Communicating Your ResearchThis workshop will prepare graduate students to effectively present their research at an academic conference or other public forum. This annual award of $1,000 is to support research and professional development centered on diversity and inclusion. Current full-time doctoral students are invited to apply here by March 31. SUSTAINABILITYAnthony Acquisto wins Ecolympics Week 6Congrats to Anthony Acquisto, a student who shared that he uses a reusable bottle & silverware, recycles, reduces cooking waste, & unplugged everything before leaving for spring break to save energy.
