Election Application — Student Resources

Applications are due, and the electronic application will close on Friday, January 27th at 5:00 PM EST.

Please finish and submit each of the required sections on this application by the stated deadline. Failure to complete and submit each required section WILL RESULT IN YOUR INELIGIBILITY TO SEEK OFFICE IN THE 2023 SGA GENERAL ELECTION as described in Chapter 102.1 of the SGA General Election Rules.

Slate Campaign Value Reports (SCVR) and Campaign Value Reports (CVR) are due on Thursday, March 2nd by 5:00 PM EST. An example can be found in the 2023 General Election Rules on the SGA website. Please email SCVR and CVR to sgacourt@louisville.edu.

We would like to thank you for your interest in running during the 2023 SGA Election General Election. If at any time during this process you have a question, please send an email to sgacourt@louisville.edu or contact your college’s respective Supreme Court justice (listed at the end of the SGA General Election Rules).

Further, any individual may report or file a complaint concerning election violations by sending an email to sgacourt@louisville.edu. An example of a complaint petition can be found in the 2023 General Election Rules on the SGA website. Official complaints will be reviewed by the SGA Supreme Court, and require a petitioner to support and defend the complaint. Anonymous complaints will not be accepted.

The SGA Supreme Court would like to remind each candidate that as students of the University of Louisville, we should hold ourselves to the highest standards of integrity and kindness. Intent to Run Intent to Run I INTEND TO RUN FOR THE FOLLOWING POSITION AND CERTIFY THAT I MEET ALL QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY TO RUN FOR OFFICE AS OUTLINED IN THE SGA CONSTITUTION, BYLAWS, AND ELECTION RULES. I fully understand that University Policy is applicable to my conduct and that the SGA Supreme Court has discretion to subject a candidate to appropriate sanctions for a violation of the SGA Constitution, Bylaws, or Election Rules. I have read and thoroughly understand all of the Election Rules and Procedures. Furthermore, I fully understand that ignorance of the Election Rules and Procedures, SGA Constitution, or SGA Bylaws shall not be acceptable defense in response to any offense committed in any election under these Election Rules and Procedures.

Appendix B - Statement of Financial Agreement I agree. I understand that the Supreme Court’s spending limits are as follows: The sum total of a candidate’s campaign expenditures, and a candidate’s contributions to his or her slate, shall not exceed— (a). For the Office of the Student Body President, five-hundred dollars ($500.00); (b). For the Office of the Student Body Vice President, five-hundred dollars ($500.00); (c). For the Office of College President, two-hundred dollars ($200.00); (d). For the Office of the College Vice President, two-hundred dollars ($200.00); (e). For the Office of the College Senator, one-hundred and twenty-five dollars ($125.00); and, (f). For any additional Offices, one-hundred and twenty-five dollars ($125.00).

Appendix C - Academic Qualification Release I Agree. In compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, I grant permission for verification of my information as it pertains to my candidacy for the SGA Election. I understand that as a candidate for office I must meet academic qualifications specified in the SGA Constitution and Bylaws and these Election Rules.

Appendix D - Campaign Value Reports I Understand. I understand that a Campaign Value Report and/or a Slate Campaign Value Report must be submitted by Thursday, March 2nd, 5:00 PM EST. Failure to do so will violate SGA Election Rules Chapter 300. Any attempt at falsifying either document could result in disqualification.
