Dr. Richard Clover
Dr. Richard Clover, former Dean and current faculty member of the School of Public Health and Information Sciences (SPHIS) died Tuesday, May 9.
His legacy at UofL included the establishment of the school in 2002 and serving as its first dean until 2012. Dean Clover oversaw accreditation of the school in 2007, a significant undertaking. After stepping down, he continued his teaching and professional service as a professor in the Department of Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences.
Clover started his UofL career in 1995, serving as the Chair of Family Medicine in the School of Medicine. He soon felt compelled to address the health concerns of Kentuckians from a public health standpoint and began the process of creating a new school. A portrait of Dr. Clover hangs on the wall of the school’s foyer, in remembrance of his leadership.
