Physical wellness is the focus of alumna Tiffany Cross Dill

Tiffany Cross Dill, OTD, MPH, ORT/L, was in our first graduating MPH class in 2007. In May 2013, Dr. Dill obtained her Doctor in Occupational Therapy from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. In her words, “having a background in public health played a huge role” in her education as well as her doctoral research, which focused on functional outcomes among workers with distal upper extremity tendinopathy.

After graduation, Dr. Dill completed a four-month doctoral apprenticeship in community health working with a team from St. Louis Children's Hospital on nutrition education for children with cerebral palsy and a team of physical therapists on research projects focused on physical activity in St. Louis City Schools. She continues her work with the Washington University School of Medicine on childhood obesity projects as a Clinical Research Specialist where she assists on physical fitness assessments and physical activity projects in urban city schools and collaborates with local organizations, various research teams and companies. In this role, she coordinates physical activity projects using accelerometers, pedometers, and heart rate monitors; provides health education among elementary students; and completes data analysis.

Completing a doctorate was one of two big accomplishments last year. In 2013, she also returned to Louisville to finish her first Ironman. For Dr. Dill, staying active not only provides numerous health and wellness benefits but is also part of being a role model for the young students with whom she works.
