William Paul McKinney, M.D., Professor and Associate Dean for Research in the University of Louisville School of Public Health and Information Sciences in Louisville, KY. Most recently, Dr. McKinney served as Interim Dean from July 2023 through March 2024. Dr. McKinney's research interests include emergency preparedness and response, immunizations, the epidemiology of infectious diseases and travel medicine. From 1995-2005, he was the V.V. Cooke Chair and Professor of Medicine and chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine, Geriatrics and Health Policy Research at UofL. Early in his career, McKinney served for two years as an epidemiology intelligence service officer with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and as a hospital epidemiologist at the Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, Wis. His long-term involvement with the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices supports his active involvement in review of the COVID-19 pandemic and the vaccines. He is a liaison representative on the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices and member the Louisville Metro Vaccination Task Force.
