Master of Science in Epidemiology provides intensive training in the theory and methods of analytic epidemiology and disease biology, and is designed to prepare students for entry into the PhD Program. Click here to view a PDF of the curriculum.
PhD in Public Health Sciences – Epidemiology provides advanced training in specialized methods and professional skills in grant and manuscript writing and oral presentation. PhD students are required to select a specialized area of emphasis, which may be disease-based (e.g. infectious disease or cancer) or methods-based (e.g. nutrition or genetics), and take coursework in a minor area of interest (e.g. biostatistics, environmental health behavior, health systems or bioterrorism). Masters of Public Health (MPH) students who choose a second-year concentration in epidemiology receive advanced training in the theory and methods of epidemiology, with an emphasis on descriptive epidemiology, field methods (e.g. the investigation of disease outbreaks), disease surveillance and the use of various public health databases.
