Pivot to Peace Evaluation

Introduced by the Louisville Metro Government in collaboration with KentuckyOne Health, the University of Louisville Hospital, and the University of Louisville’s Kent School of Social Work, Pivot to Peace is a hospital-based program aimed at preventing young adult violence, and  improving community capacity to address all forms of violence.

Key outcomes for Pivot to Peace participants include reduced violent interactions, improved educational attainment, improved employment status, and improved physical/mental status. Measurement of success will be assessed through the triangulation of primary (interviews, surveys) and secondary (trauma registries, police incident reports) data sources that will provide evidence of project impact.  A quasi-experimental evaluation will compare participants of Pivot to a control group from a comparable neighborhood in regard to crime, poverty, and other stress-inducing conditions.

CIK researchers are responsible for assessing the impact of this program at the participant and population level by tracking changes in the incidence of violent interactions, physical/mental status,  community connections, the number of young adult offenders and re-offenders, the number of agency policies or procedures changed, improved, rescinded, or added, the number of stakeholders involved in violence prevention, and the change in leveraged resources in violence prevention initiatives.
